Summary
Vessels drop anchor off the island of Kythera, the first part of Greece to receive the forces of liberation. They are welcomed by the Greek people and members of ELAS march through the streets. Next, in Poleponnesia, troops of Land Forces Adriatic work in close co-operation with the RAF Regiment in taking the town of Patras and the nearby airfield at Araxos. Again, warm receptions as the men go ashore. At the aerodrome repairs are carried out by Greeks, including the children. The people of Patras, third largest city in Greece, celebrate by forming one huge parade and carrying their Mayor shoulder high into the City Hall.
