- Summary
- MacArthur and Admiral Nimitz plan the campaign which brought final defeat to the enemy in the Solomons. At Bougainville, American troops advance under fire, taking cover behind moving tanks as they move through the jungle. Flame-throwers are used to flush out the Japanese and hand grenades thrown to clear a path. Dead Japanese soldiers and US wounded tell of fighting that went before the victory in the Solomons which is now complete.
