Summary
In January, after two and a half years, the Red Army burst through the German lines around Leningrad, a besieged city no more. Many thousands of Russians had died from starvation after enduring the greatest of hardships. In the town of Krasnoye-Selo outside Leningrad, house to house fighting takes place between Russian and German troops. The Russians surge forward west towards the Polish border and fighting takes place in the towns of Mosyr and Kalinovichi. A complete reversal has taken place and now Germans march eastwards into Russia as prisoners.
