- The Benedictine Monastery at Monte Cassino bombed and shelled by the allies. With its destruction has gone the strongest enemy defence on the road to Rome. Interview with the Lord Abbott of Pershore and Nasbdom at an abbey in Kent when he says that although Benedictine Monks regret the bombing of the monastery, if its preservation has prolonged the war or meant the loss of more lives, then its destruction was more than justified.
