- Summary
- Marshal Vatutin watching operations across the Dnieper River. Among Russian officers watching is Khruschev. Infantry board craft that will ferry them across the river. A pontoon bridge is erected to connect between banks. Artillery in action and infantry and heavy equipment move across the bridge. Further advance across dry open plains and burnt out villages. At one point a disabled German tank is seen and as the crew of two try to escape one is shot down. Rushing an enemy strong point the troops throw matting over barbed wire to make a path across it. They enter the town of Zaporozhe to welcome by cheering crowds.
