Summary
Ships of the American and British fleets assembled off Salerno prior to invasion. The Anglo-American 5th Army landing with guns, vehicles, stores and equipment, and for the first time on the screen we see the latest type of landing craft to be used. A bridgehead was established on Salerno Bay early in the morning. A column of smoke tells of one landing craft that was hit. German prisoners are rounded up and further landings take place.
