Summary
Allied shipping undergoes air attack off the Sicily coast. The invading 8th Army start to move inland from Siracuse. In Rosolino an Italian surrenders and the troops are given wine. Evacuees return home. Wrecked Italian equipment. Montgomery from jeep observes the advance of his army. Troops on bren gun carriers and donkey carts enter Avola. Part of the glider fleet employed in the operation are seen over airfield in North Africa. Support troops arrive for the invasion of Siracuse. Although a big battle raged between men of the 8th Army and the Germans in roughly 15 hours the city was in our hands. Scenes in Siracuse the morning after occupation showing troops and civilians in the streets. Italian prisoners are herded together and marched along road.
