History
Calendar, previously British Calendar until issue No. 99, was a black and white 13-minute ‘cine-magazine for television’ that was issued on a weekly/fortnightly basis. The format consisted of about seven topical stories and was generally more political in its scope than the other cinemagazine produced by the Central Office of Information. However, some issues were a single items, such as Calendar No.105 on British Universities and sometimes these were in colour. Initially the production company for the series was British Movietonenews Ltd but certainly from Issue No.124 [1965] the contract had passed to Kay (West End) Laboratories Ltd.

Calendar was sponsored by the Commonwealth Relations Office and the Foreign Office. It was distributed to the United States of America, the Commonwealth and Latin America, as Telerama Britanico. It was therefore produced in three languages: English, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Occasionally the version for the United States would differ from the Commonwealth one, in terms of the stories used and their placement. The suffix A usually identifies the versions for the United States. The edition for the United States and Canada stopped in 1967 when it was replaced by London Line (Colour series 2) although it certainly seems to have continued in Australia until 1969.
