Career

Ronnie Hubbard was a sound engineer with British Paramount News after 1945. His name first appears on a surviving ‘Daily Assignment Sheet’ from February 1952, where he is listed for coverage of the funeral of George VI, helping to set up gear in Windsor. Hubbard is again mentioned in a ‘Daily Assignment Sheet’ from October 1952, but his first surviving credit is as Henry Hawkins’ sound engineer for ‘TURPIN WINS - BELGIAN TAKES COUNT IN ROUND SIX’ in British Paramount News No.2285 of January 1953. In February 1953 British Paramount News ran a story in its Scottish edition of No.2292 entitled ‘FLU RIDES AGAIN!,' which featured a comic shot of a football crowd including Hubbard. In June 1953 Hubbard was sound engineer to cameraman Ronnie Read [qv] for ‘TROOPING THE COLOUR’ in British Paramount News No.2326, and in the following month they also covered ‘WIMBLEDON FINALS’ for No.2332.
