Career

Frank Hawkins was a commentator with Pathe, whose surviving credits begin with Pathe News No.56/55 of July 1956, and appear infrequently until No.56/80 of October 1956, and then again from Pathe News No.60/6 of January 1966 to Pathe News No.61/61 of July 1961. Hawkins apparently acted as relief for Pathe’s regular commentator, Bob Danvers-Walker [qv].

Hawkins also commentated on a few issues of Colour Pictorial beginning with Colour Pictorial No.77 of June 1956, continuing sporadically and then ending with Colour Pictorial No.148 of October 1957. It is, therefore, likely that he he acted as Pathe’s general relief commentator.

In the early 1960s he provided the commentary for ‘COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL’ and ‘YOUTH HOSTEL HOLIDAY’, part of the Looking At Britain series, made by Max Munden Productions for the Central Office of Information and Colonial Office.
