Career

Edward Grant began his career as a press photographer, and subsequently worked in a photographic portrait studio. He entered the film industry in 1912, but volunteered for service on the outbreak of war in 1914. After demobilisation in 1919 he worked as studio cameraman for a number of film companies, and also did freelance work for the Daily Sketch Topical Budget, as a member of the camera team at major events from ‘HOPE FOR UNEMPLOYED’ in No.587-1 of November 1922, to ‘ARMISTICE DAY’ in No.638-1 of November 1923. His last credited item for the company was ‘CHIMNEY FELLING’ in Topical Budget No.684-2 of October 1924.
