Career

'Friedman’ was credited in two Pathe camera teams, covering ‘THE FUNERAL OF HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V’ in Super Sound Gazette No.36/9 of January 1936, and ‘THE CORONATION OF THEIR MAJESTIES KING GEORGE VI AND QUEEN ELIZABETH’ in No.37/38 of May 1937. This was almost certainly Laurie Friedman, who had entered the film industry in 1930 as a camera assistant, later becoming a camera operator. In 1946 he was cinematographer on the Two Cities documentary ‘The Way We Live’ (1946) and camera operator on its drama ‘Odd Man Out’ (1946), and in 1947 and 1948 worked as director of photography on other Two Cities productions. Friedman later had a successful career overseas.
