Career

The Ministry of Fuel and Power, a department of the United Kingdom government, was created on 11th June 1942, as part of the separation of the Board of Trade. It was in charge of coal production, allocation of fuel supplies, control of energy prices and petrol rationing.

Under an agreement with the newly formed National Coal Board [qv], and the Central Office of Information [qv], the Ministry of Fuel and Power sponsored the first six issues of Mining Review 1st Year in 1947.

The Mininstry was renamed the Ministry of Power in 1957, and later merged with the Ministry of Technology to become the Department of Trade and Industry in 1970.
