Career
In 1937, Film Centre was established by Basil Wright, Arthur Elton [qv], Stuart Legg and J. P. R. Golightly. It acted as a promotional organ for the documentary movement and managed films commissioned by organisations such as Shell, Imperial Airways and the Films of Scotland Committee. This was an attempt to maintain the integrity of the Documentary Movement whilst its members were working in a rather fragmented way outside the state sponsored realm of the GPO Film Unit.
Film Centre is credited in a production capacity for several Shell Cinemagazine stories, including ‘COASTAL TRADER’ in No.11 of 1948 and ‘PARK GALLERY’ in No.12 of 1949.
