Career
National Girobank was a financial institution which operated from 1968 until 2003. It wa set up by the Post Office to replace highstreet banking in areas where no banking services were available. In July 1976, the company sponsored an issue of the National Coal Board’s [qv] cinemagazine, entitled ‘IN PLACE OF CASH’. (Review 29th Year No.11 of July 1976). In 1980, they sponsored another issue, ‘A BANK IN YOUR HOME’, Review 33rd Year No.7 of March 1980.
In July 2003, Girobank merged with Alliance and Leicester and Sovereign Finance and is now known as Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank.
