Career

Bill Burningham was listed as a sound engineer with Gaumont British from 1933 onwards. In about 1936 he was featured in a Gaumont British publicity photograph, with his sound gear set up next to a camera car. In July 1947 Burningham and H. J. Morley [qv] filmed sound and silent footage of the King for ‘ROYAL VISIT TO SCOTLAND’ in Gaumont British News No.1413, and in October 1947 they also covered ‘RUGBY - AUSTRALIAN WIN AGAINST THE SERVICES’ for No.1435. In September 1950 a photograph of Burningham appeared in the ‘Cinema,' working with the cameraman Peter Cannon [qv]. His last credit is for ‘PREMIER OFF TO USA’ in Pathe News No.54/49 of June 1954.
