A series of ten one hour films made by independent award-winning filmmakers from around the world on the subject of contemporary global democracy. To complement the longer documentaries 17 short films were also made which deal with personal, political and rights issues on the theme ‘What does democracy mean to me?' Some of the films were shown on BBC2 in October 2007. The website includes additional resources. The films are an initiative of The Why Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation that produces and distributes factual public media projects to promote independent information on key global issues. Other documentary series produced so far include: Why Poverty, and Why Women.

Creative Loop is a partnership that bridges the gap between Scotland’s creative media industry and education, working work closely with the education sector across the country to further develop talent and skills, for learners, independent producers and key media industry bodies. Through training, seminars, festivals and online content, Creative Loop aims to connect media students with professional individuals and companies to ensure talent in Scotland is recognised and has the opportunity to develop and succeed in the industry. This site is part of the Higher Education Academy supported Creative Contexts: Work placements, peer learning and professional practice in the creative industries Teaching Development project. The Creative Contexts website hosts short videos exploring work placements in the media creative industries, and foregrounds student stories and questions. Contributions from students of 3 minutes videos sit alongside employer perspectives and advice from educators.
Themes covered include: Identifying and securing work placements; insights into working with others; activities undertaken; how work placement experiences connect together; challenges encountered and response; and feelings and experiences of ‘fitting in’.

The Learning to Teach Online project is a free professional development resource from COFA (The College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales) designed to help teachers from any discipline, whether experienced in online teaching or not, to gain a working understanding of successful online teaching pedagogies that they can apply in their own teaching situation. Each ‘episode’ deals with a particular pedagogical issue, technological tool, or case study, and consists of a video and pdf document.

This simple and easy to use resource includes all twelve of the hour-long lectures by Professor Michael Sandel from Harvard University on the subject of Justice. Held at the University’s enormous Sanders Theater with upwards of 1,000 students in attendance, these lectures include much audience participation to discuss such fundamental issues as the right to life, gun control, same sex marriage and other major topics. Sandel is a very practiced speaker and the filming is of a very high standard. The site include all the lectures as well as summaries and discussion guides. A model of its kind.

Multimedia Training Videos is a series of free and open educational resources for instruction in the use of a variety of multimedia and ICT tools. It was created by members of the MSc in Multimedia at the University of Westminster. The project is a joint collaboration between the Joint Information Systems Committee-JISC, Higher Education Academy and the University of Westminster Education Initiative Centre. The videos include detailed instruction in the use of software such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Director and Audacity, as well as covering web tools and search engine optimisation. Other videos are planned to cover Javascript, CSS, PHP and WordPress. The resources are also available via other outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, Vimeo and YouTube and can be embedded into your own blog. The site contains its own that records all the work done to develop the site.

This extensive two-way website supports the Channel 4 series The Sex Education Show and along with relevant clips from the series also includes many video interviews in which the subjects speak candidly about their personal experiences of sex, gender and sexuality. Looking at prevailing attitudes and trends in contemporary British society, it focuses on such issues as teenage pregnancy, the influence of pornography, basic anatomy and contraception with a view to demystifying the subject and providing positive support and accurate advice to young people.

A series of DVDs for sale that show real lessons, professionally filmed and edited as they happen, with no stage management and no disruption. There are individual DVDs of lessons covering a range of subjects from Year 7 upwards. The post compulsory lesson DVDs are supplied with reports and judgements made by a qualified Ofsted inspector. Unlike other observations, reports and judgements are based on the video evidence rather than the lesson itself. There are also three new Maths and Literacy lessons at a school that has gone from good to outstanding. Each lesson includes a report and a post lesson review between the teacher and the Ofsted inspector.
