Life in a Medieval Town

Synopsis
We share a young serf’s impressions of a medieval town - the town gate and walls; the tax collector; the town square; the guild workshops - as he finds a new friend, a shoemaker’s apprentice. The film presents a detailed picture of daily life and provides a background for understanding the influence of trade and the role of the merchant and craft guilds in the rise of towns in Europe.
