I’m a Child Anorexic
- Synopsis
- This BBC education film is about a North London clininc where around thirty severely underweight children are undergoing treatment for anorexia. Made using the children’s own video diaries and conversations with each other, the programme documents the highs and lows of the twelve-week programme, as the girls make progress and go from the dangerously emaciated and malnourished states they arrive in to a healthy weight and their departure. The programme provides an insight into children’s beliefs about food, dieting and fat; and shows the terrifying power of TV, magazines, celebrities, parents and peers in influencing and distorting their perceptions.
