Hollow Crowns

Synopsis
Documentary. Simon Schama concludes his two-part documentary looking at Shakespeare’s attitudes towards kingship. The programmes focuses on Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, Henry V and Richard II. Includes scenes from the West Yorkshire Playhouse’s 2011 production of King Lear with Tim Pigott-Smith in the title role. Judi Dench (not in costume) performs Lady Macbeth’s speech (Act I, sc v - "The raven himself is hoarse").
