Garbage Dreams

Synopsis
An award-winning documentary that brings to life the humanity and dignity of Cairo’s garbage collector class (Al Zabaleen), highlighting the foresight and value in their work, and their incredible illuminated entrepreneurial spirit. It shows that recycling is not just a contemporary phenomenon linked to relatively recent concerns over global warming. Mai Iskander guides us into a ‘garbage village,' a place so different from our own, and yet the choices they face there are so hauntingly familiar.
