Synopsis: A detailed view of the training which takes place in a particular nursery setting. The video is not prescriptive but is a guide to the demonstration of competencies. It explores a "day in the life" of nurseries and explains to the viewer the philosophy of good child care and its relationship with the everyday tasks of caring and nurturing the development of children in her/his care. Some of the topics covered are: communication, storytelling, discipline , safety drill , in the nursery room, at the meal table, creativity, watching for the child who doesn’t join in, preparation at start of day, craft activities, table based activities, developing skills, sand & water play, toilet training, quiet moments, outdoor play, imaginative play, conversation, the baby room.
