Voices in My Head, The

Synopsis: Radio programme. Actor Julian Rhind-Tutt explores how actors archive the sounds of their own voices. How does an actor live with the voice in his head and the voice he sounds like? Includes extracts from Richard Burton reading part of King Richard’s speech from Richard II, (Act III ii ‘let’s talk of graves’), Finbar Lynch reading Mark Antony’s oration speech from Julius Caesar, and John Gielgud reading from Act II i from Henry V (`on, on you nob’lest English ... St George’) in a recording from the 1930s. Scholar Richard Cottrell speaks briefly on Shakespeare and rhetoric. Edward Fox says all young actors should study Shakespeare arguing that Shakespeare tells you all you need to know about acting and speaking.
