Feeding Frenzy: Convenient Cuisine & Clever Food

Synopsis
Two programmes on the new food revolution, made in a collaboration between the BBC’s MONEY PROGRAMME and the Open University’s Open Business School.

FEEDING FRENZY: CONVENIENT CUISINE - Max Flint reports on the rise of ready meals and the impact it is having on our diet and our cooking skills. While convenient cuisine is a bonanza for the retail giants, what is it doing to the nation’s health?

FEEDING FRENZY: CLEVER FOOD - In the second of a two-part series on the new food revolution, Libby Potter investigates the boom in so-called ‘clever’ foods, designed to make us healthier and brainier, and which range from probiotics to cholesterol-reducing margarine, and milk, bread and eggs with added Omega 3. Though they’re all extremely profitable for the manufacturers, Potter wonders if they’re really worth the extra money and if they actually do work.

Notes
NB. As of May 2016 Open University Worldwide are no longer distributing DVDs. They have posted this message on their website: ‘Unfortunately Open University Worldwide Limited has decided that product sales are no longer viable given the reduced funding to Higher Education institutions and diminishing demand for the products we have traditionally stocked. At present the Open University Students Association (OUSA) will continue to sell the "Good Study Guide", and we are in discussion with other possible distributors to continue to make The Open University’s products available for purchase. As soon as we have any information on other channels of distribution we will update this notice’. Some products are still available via second hand dealers on Amazon.co.uk
