Dig for Victory
- Synopsis
- A documentary about Britain’s ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign of the Second World War. Launched in 1939, the campaign encouraged men, women and children to cultivate their gardens, local parks and allotments in a bid to increase food production. The campaign was hugely successful. Drawing on extensive archive material, the reality of wartime gardening is brought to life by words, films and images of those who were most closely involved, including recollections from members of the Women’s Land Army.
DVD extras include wartime recipies and information on the Women’s Land Army. - Language
