- Synopsis
- Television arts documentary series. A profile of Nigel Hawthorne as he prepares to play the title role in King Lear, directed by Ninagawa, for the Royal Shakespeare Company. The programme follows him through rehearsals in Tokyo and on a visit to his childhood home in Cape Town, South Africa. The actor talks about his upbringing, his career and his relationship with long-term partner Trevor Bentham. There are also brief clips of Hawthorne as Malvolio in TWELFTH NIGHT (1996). Contributors include Janet Suzman, Yukio Ninagawa, Jane Lapotaire and Helen Mirren.
