- Synopsis
- Cold war spy thriller based on the novel Call for the Dead by John Le Carre, about espionage in London. Includes Edward’s death scene (specially staged for the film) of a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Marlowe’s Edward II (David Warner) - the murder of Edward parallels that of Signoret, but also features a short scene from a production of Macbeth in rehearsal at a theatre; the witches ‘double, double, toil and trouble’ (IV i) scene. The camp director is Corin Redgrave and Lynn Redgrave is Virgin, the props girl.
