Deadly Affair, The

Synopsis
Cold war spy thriller based on the novel Call for the Dead by John Le Carre, about espionage in London. Includes Edward’s death scene (specially staged for the film) of a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Marlowe’s Edward II (David Warner) - the murder of Edward parallels that of Signoret, but also features a short scene from a production of Macbeth in rehearsal at a theatre; the witches ‘double, double, toil and trouble’ (IV i) scene. The camp director is Corin Redgrave and Lynn Redgrave is Virgin, the props girl.
