DoÑana - A Paradise for Birds

Synopsis
One in a series of book and accompanying DVD packages devoted to specific World Heritage sites. The guides include information written by local professionals so as to provide the visitor with all the necessary elements to fully appreciate each site in its global dimension. Together with suggested itineraries, the guides include information on the history, culture and life of the people who used to live or still live in the site to this day. An accompanying DVD gives background information and shows the main sights.
The different ecosystems converging in Doñana make this natural reserve one of Europe’s few remaining paradises for fauna. Interlinking marshlands, banks, reserve zones, pinewoods, dunes and beaches comprise a vibrant and complex area of great originality and beauty. Doñana is a strategic location for large populations of endangered fauna, and a resting and breeding place for many species of migrating birds crossing Africa and Europe. The flat expanse of this vast wetland takes new forms throughout the day and in each new season, presenting an ever-changing physiognomy.
