Synopsis

This multimedia course is designed for veterinary surgeons, nurses and students who wish to understand the principles of fluid therapy rather than rely on recipes and habitual routines. It aims to establish a sound logical basis for fluid therapy and emphasises the principles which underlie the appropriate choice of fluids.

The program explains both parenteral and oral therapy. Animations, voice-overs and interactive case studies illustrate how to correct dehydration, hypovolaemia, acidosis, alkalosis and disturbances of plasma sodium and potassium. Quizzes challenge common misconceptions.
