Developing Midwifery Skills: Looking Forward to a Home Birth

Synopsis
Midwives often find themselves in uncharted territory when asked to help women who plan to give birth at home. Trained in hospital, some midwives lack confidence in their skills and are anxious about safety. Sometimes they have little back-up from other health professionals and lines of communication are poor. They wany to do the best they can for the mother and baby, but feel that they are in a situation which could easily be out of control.
Aims to help the midwife work positively with any woman who seeks a home birth.
