Breastfeeding: Focus on Attachment

Synopsis
Made in the Oxford Breastfeeding Clinic, the video focuses on how the underlying principles of good attachment can be shared with mothers who are having difficulties. Poor attachment may result in sore or damaged nipples, deep breast pain or mastitis and in a baby that is unhappy, unsettled or failing to grow well. Chloe Fisher talks about how it can feel for a woman having a difficult time breastfeeding, and she also puts over the message that it can usually be put right, often by a simple adjustment. The emphasis is on empowering the woman to be in control of her breastfeeding experience. Highlights the fact that the principles of attachment are the same but that technique differs between health professionals.
