Apicectomy is the surgical amputation of the apex of the tooth root. This programme discusses the theory and aims of apicectomy; the principal indications for the operation; the instruments used; the assessment of teeth for subsequent restoration. Shows the surgical application of apicectomy and retrograde root filling, with final suturing, carried out on an upper-right incisor.
