Hiawatha
- Synopsis
- Drawn from a five-day workshop involving a group of postgraduate students in Drama in Education and a group of spastic teenagers with two of their teachers, including Dorothy Heathcote. They attend Beaumont College, Lancaster, a specialised college of further education for spastic children. ‘Hiawatha’ was one of the workshop projects. The development of the play and the musical accompaniment are illustrated through extracts from rehearsals and the final version is seen in its entirety. The ability of the disabled children is illustrated and serves as an example of what can be achieved in such workshops.
