Hammersmith Flyover, The

Synopsis
London’s Hammersmith Flyover was constructed to carry westbound traffic over the approach roads to Hammersmith Broadway. The superstructure of the flyover is of prestressed concrete construction supported by single central columns. Work on site was minimized by precasting the concrete cantilever sections, spine beams and slabs for the deck at a nearby casting yard. The units were then transported to the site, positioned and stressed together. Shows how each stage of construction was carried out.
