Greenhouse Effect, The
- Synopsis
- The earth’s climate is changing with global warming, and disasterous effects may follow. Burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas adds so much carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. This traps the sun’s heat, thus steadily raising the earth’s temperature. Climatologists predict that the grain belt of North America may become hotter and drier and the monsoons may fail in India. One solution to the problem is suggested by the fact that although plants absorb carbon dioxide, power generation by humans appears to be unstoppable.
