Synopsis

Looks at the new generation of large ground-based optical telescopes which will use lasers and flexible mirrors to compensate for atmospheric distortions and improve the ‘seeing’ from earth. In combination with space telescopes, astronomers are now able to investigate faint objects at all wavelengths and image objects almost at the limit of the visible universe.
