Examines state-of-the-art applications in speech and image processing, image compression, radar target classification, audio compression, and video compression, with special emphasis on the FBI’s WSQ wavelet compression of fingerprint images. Examines Gabor and affine wavelets, multi-resolution analysis and the construction of orthogonal and biorthogonal wavelets, digital filter banks and sub-band coding.
