Flexibility Training

Synopsis
Introduces safe principles in flexibility training. In two parts: 1) shows a flexibility class and uses graphics, sports footage, and an interview with a sports scientist to discuss different types of flexibility - dynamic and static; the anatomical constraints, bone shape, capsules, ligaments fascia and the muscles (structural devices); the physiological mechanisms such as spindles, golgi bodies, the central nervous system, stretch and inverse stretch reflexes as well as reciprocal inhibition in the dynamic situation (functional devices); 2) focuses on the practical application of safe flexibility training and ends with a 12-minute section of a real class for observation and discussion.
