1 (1998): Shows the range of social and interpersonal skills needed to examine infants, toddlers, children and adolescents. By watching an experienced paediatrician at work, students can learn new techniques for successfully examining children in a clinical setting and see the strategies he employs in order to examine his patients successfully. Filmed in a clinic with real patients.
2 (1998): Shows an experienced paediatrician demonstrate the musculo-skeletal system of a healthy eight-year-old girl in a studio setting. He covers the standing examination, the prone examination, the supine examination and the sitting examination. Particular attention is given to the examination of the hips, legs, ankle and feet. Uses animation to illustrate the principles of the Trendelenberg test and the Thomas test.
3 (1999): Gives practical guidance on what features of body movement to look for when assessssing a child’s gait. A normal child is used as a reference point. Includes footage of abnormal gaits recorded in a gait laboratory along with computer-generated ‘stick figure’ analysis of walking patterns.
