Synopsis

The first part covers the general principles of euthanasia. The second deals with specific methods of euthanasia suitable for many of the commonly used laboratory species. These include: overdose of anaesthetics by injection, inhalation or immersion; exposure to a rising concentration of carbon dioxide; dislocation of the neck; concussion; methods for the euthanasia of foetal, larval and embryonic forms.
