Daring to Be New
- Synopsis
- Five programmes - The House, The Office, Sport, Art Spaces, Travel - looking at the scope and variety of contemporary architecture in Britain, Japan, the USA, and Europe and examining ways in which social and environmental concerns, aesthetics, science and engineering have been brought together to create some of the most innovative and imaginatively built structures of our age. Each part focuses on three major projects and looks at a particular aspect of the way we lead our lives. Shows the ‘city in the sky’ in Osaka, a martial arts centre in Tokyo, the new Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, post-modern architecture in Los Angeles, London’s Waterloo International Terminal, and the railway station in Lyons.
