Current and Wave Ripples

Synopsis
Illustrates the range of ripples occurring on natural beaches and then interprets the growth of these bed forms, using recirculating flumes and a wave tank. Oscillatory and unidirectional flow are contrasted. Close-ups of current ripples moving in a flume illustrate the transitions produced by increasing velocity. The growth of wave ripples and associated forms are demonstrated in a wave tank.
