- Introduces Internet communication: electronic mail, newsgroups and the World Wide Web, showing how these services can be used to support the day-to-day work of the researcher. Aims to alert the newcomer to the potential of the Internet, both as an information resource and as a means of communicating with colleagues worldwide. It explains the hypertext principles for linking documents and gives examiples of centralised electronic mailing lists and newsgroups.
