Synopsis
Looks at the most infuential buildings and architects of the 1980s, loosely grouped under the new architectural expressions such as ‘post-modern’, ‘high-tech’ and ‘rationalism’. Some of the buildings in the first programme are looked at in more detail. The futuristic, high-tech style adopted by Richard Rogers and Norman Foster is shown as is Richard Meier’s work on a museum in Atlanta, Georgia. Finally focuses on skyscrapers and on recent variations of ‘the glass box’.
