Synopsis
Before 1949 and Liberation, acrobats in China were likened to tramps, thieves and vagabonds. After the Revolution, new attitudes to all forms of art were adopted and acrobats were re-established amongst the top performers of the peoples’ art. Shows the top professional troupes in Peking and Shanghai and the feats to be seen in the villages of rural China where peasants practise the ancient art.
