Venus Unveiled

Synopsis

Explores a sequence of space missions that have gradually revealed the surface of Venus, which lies unseen beneath dense cloud cover. Uses evidence from Soviet landers, the altimetric maps of the US Pioneer 12 mission, data from Soviet imaging radar, and, most recently, Magellan imaging, to ask if Venus is a geological twin of earth. Features Professor Dan McKenzie, one of the founders of plate tectonics theory.
