Transplanted Brain, The

Synopsis
Looks at the new experimental treatments for neurological illnesses. A treatment for Parkinson’s disease involves tissue from the patient’s kidney being inserted into his brain. Another technique, surrounded by controversy, involves transplanting tissue from the brains of aborted foetuses. It is hoped that the technique can be adapted to treat other disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s chorea and stroke, but the ethical issue remains to be resolved.
