Biological Assay of Histamine

Synopsis
Preparation: guinea-pig ileum. The reasons for engaging in biological methods for the estimation of drug potency are stated as well as the requirements for the successful carrying out of such procedures. The method of presenting drug administration by means of latin square randomised sequence are described. In the Biovideograph sequences the experimental steps leading to the selection of the appropriate two-dose level responses of the standard and test compound are shown as well as the complete stages of a 4x4 latin square dose administration cycle. The final section describes the calculation of test drug concentration using a graphical method involving the assumption of a null hypothesis.
