Slope: The Key to the Landscape

Synopsis
Uses examples from Britain, Europe and North America to demonstrate three relationships through which an understanding of basic slope systems can be approached. Slope processes are introduced as the key to understanding, with emphasis given to the slope as a product both of the balance between forces of uplift and downwearing and of the interaction between processes at the slope foot (river channel or sea) and on the slope itself. These ideas are then used to explain variations of slope form which leads to an investigation of changes of slope profile through time. Indicates ways in which slopes are relevant to man.
